Back story:
I got John from my local pet shop on February, 2007. I was having a tough time dealing with depression due to problems in school and was at a point where I couldn't do anything right in my life. I didn't have any friends in class, but the moment I laid eyes on that little cute long bodied puppy, I fell in love with it. Back in school the next day, a new girl entered my class and I felt happy enough to talk to her. I convinced my parents to get John the next day and the new girl became my best friend till this day.

Back story:
I was hanging out with some colleagues one night after work and I overheard them talking about visiting the SPCA Penang shelter. I didn't know that Penang had an animal shelter, so I asked if I could follow them the next day. We went there and it was the first time I've ever seen an animal shelter. Three dogs caught my eye  and I couldn't stop thinking about them. I quit my job around 2 weeks after that and I just knew I had to adopt one of those 3 dogs to bring home with me to Taiping. I chose Pongo because he had the most energy along with a nipping problem. He is one that needs a more experienced handler, a huge space to run around in and lots of training. I knew if I did not adopt him, he might fall into the wrong hands or not be adopted at all due to his breed and nipping problems. It was the best decision I ever made. I changed his name to Sonnig which means Sunny in German because it signified our new beginning. A bright and sunny one.

Story linkKeiko's Story

Back story:
Just a stray roaming the streets as a 2 month old puppy that refused to leave the front gate of my house while I was away at camp. My parents adopted and gave me her as a birthday present cause she came on the day of my Chinese birth date. Maybe it was a gift from God, I don't know. It was good timing though. Originally her name was Kiko because I had a favorite Boxer plush toy that I still kept till this day named Kiki. However my mum started to get annoyed with the dog's naughty behavior and started calling her Keiko. Before I understood what Keiko really meant, I always thought it sounded Japanese and it suited this little girl, so the name stuck. Then I asked why my mum called her that and the meaning of her name is actually something bad. In some Chinese dialect(I don't know which one), 'Kei' means Chicken and 'Ko' means Poop. Chicken Poop. I thought of changing it back to Kiko, but then I remembered a movie I loved watching a really long time ago. Free Willy. The Orca's name was Keiko and further research proved my theory of it being Japanese and the meaning is so true. Keiko is actually Japanese for 'Lucky One' and that dog was one lucky dog to have found it's way to my house. It's also stated that the name was only given to females. She is truly a gift from God.

Name: Raichu Cheng Ai Chu
Nickname: Raichu, Rai, Chu, Moi Chu(grandchild in Hokkien)

Date of birth: March/April 2013 (estimate)
Age: 3 years old (21 doggie years)
Place of birth: Taiping (probably)

Back story:
A fostering case gone wrong, Raichu is now my dog. First discovered by my Muslim friend, who was ever so kind to help this poor soul. She asked if I could help her find him a good home or some temporary shelter cause he looked really sad. God obviously arranged this, so I couldn't say no. Originally planned to only foster Raichu-and yes, I named him after the pokemon Raichu, I and my friend struggled to find him an adopter. Not a single soul was interested with this beautiful, sweet and loving dog. My family got attached and I too fell madly in love with him, for he was too good of a dog to give away. Hence, Raichu is here to stay! YAY!

Back story:
Another rescue arranged by God. She just appeared one day, first by passing by my house a couple of times at odd hours. Sometimes during the day, but most of the time at night. After a week, I finally saw the dog and I knew I had to do something to help her. It took almost 2 weeks to get her trust and after a month, I got her in the house. Named her Karooby because the way she moves reminded me of a kangaroo hopping and her tail in addition to her color just makes it even real. She is my little red Kangaroo. I am still in the process of getting her to her proper weight, raising money to fix her damaged leg, and treating her bad skin conditions.

Breed: Red Eared Slider/Terrapin
Color:-

Date of birth: Unknown
Age: Unknown
Place of birth: Unknown
Found: April 2013

Back story:
There was a swamp behind my house that the government decided to clear up and flatten the land to build more houses. Egg must have escaped the destruction and found itself in my neighbor's house. My neighbor did not keep pets, so she gave it to me. Turtle wasn't happy at first, but 3 days later, they got along really well. Sadly, after 2 wonderful years of taking care of her, she ran away due to my failure to secure the fencing and provide her with a proper basking platform.

Name: Barney
Nickname: Barns, Bun bun, BUN
Sex: Male (neutered)
Breed: Dwarf mix
Color: Brindle
Size: Medium
Date of birth: August/September 2015 (estimate)
Age: 6-7 months
Place of birth: Penang(probably)
Taken in: March 12, 2016, officially adopted on April 19, 2016

Back story:
His name was originally Betsy-you know how sexing baby bunnies is like a 50/50 percent probability. Lol. I got Barney through my former college lecturer who had a job opportunity in Singapore and asked if I could bunnysit Betsy for a month while she looked for accommodation that allowed pets. It was only a week in when I notice a change in Betsy and that is how we found out Betsy was actually a Barney. He must have hit maturity under my care and after counting back the months, it makes sense. A month went by and his former owner felt it's best to give him up for adoption due to understandable reason which I myself have also gone through before with my late bunny, Stefan. I decided to adopt him and the rest is history.

Name: ~Don't have one yet~
Nickname: Bun bun, Squishy
Sex: Male
Breed: Angora mix
Color: 'Almost' Charlie (Black)/White body with black markings
Size: Medium
Date of birth: January/February 2016 (estimate)
Age: 3/4 months
Place of birth: Taiping (probably)
Taken in: April 23, 2016

Back story:
I ran out of rabbit food during the last week of bunnysitting Barney and I was surprised to see new rabbits being sold at the petshop. Ever since Stefan's passing, I was always on a look out for rabbits on sale with the same coloring and breed. For four years I didn't see one and all of a sudden I saw one that day? Is this a sign telling me I'm ready to have rabbits again? I left the store with just the packet of rabbit food and went home. Later that day, Barney's owner asked if I could adopt him, and so I decided I was ready to have rabbits again. I gave it another couple of days before going back to the store to finally bring home this bunny as a life long companion for Barney.
